Events

I will launch my walk of repentance with an event in Birmingham on Wednesday 15 June. I will start walking the next morning, arriving in London on Friday 1 July in time to speak in central London that evening. I’ll then join the Pride march the next day.

There will be three events in city centre churches – at the beginning, middle and end of my pilgrimage.

Birmingham, Wednesday 15 June

7.00pm, Carr’s Lane Church, central Birmingham – Come along for the launch of my pilgrimage. After a talk and quesstions, there will be an act of commissioning and hopefully a chance to meet and talk informally. People of all religions and none are welcome, whatever their views on sexuality.

Oxford, Sunday 26 June

1.00pm, St Columba’s United Reformed Church, Alfred Street  – I will be speaking and answering questions about sexuality, homophobia and repentance.  I’m keen to meet people and engage in dialogue with people of varied views. All are welcome.

London, Friday 1 July

7.00pm, Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church, Shaftesbury Avenue – On the day I finish my pilgrimage, and the evening before the Pride march, I will speak and answer questions about issues of sexuality, homophobia and repentance. You’re very welcome, whatever your views on sexuality or religion. Tea and coffee will be available afterwards.

Other events

There may also be public events at other locations. In addition, I have been invited to join particular groups or churches for smaller-scale discussions or acts of worship. More details will be available shortly.

The route is now almost finalised. I expect to visit Coventry, Leamington Spa, Southam, Daventry, Banbury, Bicester, Oxford, Haddenham, Chesham and Watford. A full schedule will be posted here soon.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to get in touch. You can reach me at symonhill@gmail.com.

Good on you Symon. I’m delighted at the combination of Quaker and medievval Catholic in this! It’s a shame that I’m not likely to be in the right place at the right time to offer encouragement by my presence.

You’ve inspired me, btw. I’m thinking seriously about this idea of a repentant pilgrimmage, though on different issues … (I’m a member of AE and held the attitudes for as long as I can recall …)
